If you need an electrician in Halifax, the peninsula is the part of the municipality where the housing itself decides the job. It holds the oldest stock in the Halifax Regional Municipality, and almost everything about the electrical work here follows from that.

What an electrician in Halifax deals with most

Large parts of the north end and the west end were built before 1920. Many of those houses still hold some original knob-and-tube wiring, often in the attic and in exterior wall cavities where nobody has had a reason to look. A great many still have 60 amp services, and a fair number still have fuse panels.

The specific risk is not the age of the wire. It is that insulation was blown into those attics and walls decades after the wiring went in. Knob-and-tube was designed to shed heat into open air, and packing it in insulation is how a hundred year old conductor gets hot.
