About Kelly Electric
Licensed electrical contracting across the Halifax Regional Municipality since 2023.
Rory Kelly is from a Cape Breton family and lives in the Halifax Regional Municipality with his wife and son. He started Kelly Electric in 2023 after years in the trade, and he still does every job himself.
Most of the work is residential, somewhere across the HRM on a given day: panel and service upgrades, EV chargers, generators, heat pump circuits, lighting, and the knob-and-tube and aluminum wiring that older Halifax and Dartmouth homes still hold. A lot of it is older houses, which he prefers. The work is harder to do well, and it shows when it is.
The emergency line is answered around the clock. If something is burning, sparking or suddenly dark, call it.
What we work on most
Older housing is the constant. The Halifax peninsula and central Dartmouth hold a lot of pre-war stock, which means knob-and-tube wiring, 60 amp services and fuse panels. The Sackville and Cole Harbour subdivisions are mostly a generation younger, which brings its own list. Out towards Fall River and Hammonds Plains the properties are larger, often on wells, and generators matter more than they do in town.
Alongside that, the two things adding the most electrical load to Nova Scotia homes right now are heat pumps and EV chargers. Both need a real load calculation rather than a guess, and both are the reason a lot of panel upgrades happen.
How the work runs
Permits are pulled and inspections booked as part of the job, not left with the homeowner. Load calculations happen before a quote, not after. Every panel leaves with a legible circuit directory.
